William Horn, LPC
William (Bill) Horn is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for improving the emotional health of student athletes. As a sports counselor with Mind of the Athlete, Bill draws upon his 20+ years of experience in serving adolescents and young adults. He is committed to helping people to both feel and perform at their best through development of a sound mind, balanced life style, and strong support.
Bill’s forte is serving adolescents and their families. As a former athlete and coach, he uniquely understands the challenges people in the sports world face today. He is well versed in the treatment of anxiety, depression, addictions, and complex family dynamics. Bill is a Certified School Counselor, as well as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. With a rare combination of warmth and strength, Bill’s therapeutic style is person centered, direct, and educational.
Drawing upon his wealth of knowledge as a current full time public school administrator, Bill has an exceptional depth of insight into the mind of today’s students. Bill knows the current teen issues and trends. He has much experience in equipping teens with the skills needed to manage their challenges.
While earning a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Chestnut Hill College, Bill specialized in Child and Adolescent Therapy. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology/Sociology from King’s College. He has trained and worked in a plethora of different therapeutic settings from outpatient adjudicated youth, to foster care, to intensive outpatient treatment programs. Prior to joining Mind of the Athlete in 2015 as an independent contractor, Bill worked in private practice counseling for over ten years. His successful career in counseling is rooted with an emphasis on a strong therapeutic relationship, along with a genuine concern for the individuals’ needs and goals.
Bill’s expertise as a sports counselor also stems from his years of coaching football, soccer, and baseball, as well as his own personal experiences of competing in football, hockey, crew, soccer and rugby. As an involved family man with three kids involved with sports today, he is on the front line of the challenges and opportunities facing our youth today.
During his spare time, Bill is active in the Lehigh Valley community. He plays drums in his church’s contemporary Christian worship band. He enjoys being outside hiking in nature, cheering on his beloved Steelers football team, and spending quality time with his beautiful wife and family.
