Compete With, Not Against

Compete With Not Against
Your opponent is just a shadow.
They aren't really there.
In any athletic competition, it's you versus yourself.
The real battle is inside of you.
You are competing with a previous version of yourself.
Your opponent is fighting the same battle.
So, in essence, you are competing with each other not against.
You are both trying to push each other to bring out your best.
Mike Hojnacki of FCA Wrestling teaches this to his wrestlers.
It's a liberating perspective allowing you to compete more freely.
