Time: Early, On Time, or Late?
April 23, 2014
"Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable!"
Lafayette College football coach, Frank Tavani, strongly expressed that to us during our freshmen preseason practices.
I am grateful he did. It taught me so many valuable life lessons.
Accountability. Respect for other people's time. Selflessness.
Coaches today often get frustrated regarding athletes' view of time.
Athletes struggle to 'get it' when coaches address them being late.
One reason may be in little league, parents make excuses for kids being late to practices. Kids today rarely run laps for being late.
There is tremendous psychological value in being present and ready for practice 15 minutes before it actually begins.
Less anxiety. Deeper pride. Greater focus. More enjoyment.
Test this out.
