What’s Your ‘Why’?

You likely will need even more motivation to excel at the next level.

There are 2 types of motivation: extrinsic and intrinsic.

Extrinsic motivation is based on external factors such as getting one's name in the paper, attention from parents, and social status.

Intrinsic motivation is determined by internal factors such as the rush of competing, gratification from accomplishments, & pride.

A common mistake is to focus too much on extrinsic motivation.

Athletes with higher intrinsic motivation compete longer & better.

To get more intrinsic motivation, you need to spend time thinking, talking, praying and writing out 'why' you do that you do.

A greater clarity of your 'why' leads to better performance.
